    POLYVALENT CONSULAR EMPLOYEE VISA DEPARTMENT (m/f)

    The Embassy of Belgium in London is hiring a customer friendly, full-time employee to join its locally hired consular team for employment date 01.09.21

    The core task for this multi skilled administrative operative-principally active in the consular field: prepare, encode and monitor the evolution of applications according to the procedures and regulations in force in order to support the Embassy in visa activities.

    The initial contract will run for 12 months.

    Job Description:

    • ü  Check documents and complete applications if necessary by contacting the applicant.
    • ü  Check the authenticity of documents if necessary
    • ü  Prepare the applications, if necessary after pre-analysis, give an initial opinion to the Head of the Visa Section (or on the basis of the documents and contacts with the visitor).
    • ü  If necessary, prepare applications for the Immigration Office and answer its questions or those from other authorities
    • ü  Follow the path of applications through to their outcome
    • ü  Prepare certificates and various acts and documents.
    • ü  Contribute to the organisation of elections for Belgians in the host country.
    • ü  Update various databases, including website with new instructions, information to the public, etc.
    • ü  Reply to mail from Belgian or foreign citizens, local authorities, honorary consulates, etc. pertaining to consular affairs & visas
    • ü  Serve as a backup for the front office (consular section), at the reception, if necessary, etc. and share telephone duties.

    Salary scale:

    Gross salary 2.580,00 £; London weighting £290, lunch allowance £66.

    Profile:

    • ·       Thorough knowledge of oral and written Dutch or French and English;
    • ·       Knowledge of a second Belgian national language is considered a bonus;
    • ·       Excellent communication skills;
    • ·       Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and online meeting platforms;
    • ·       Previous experience in (Schengen) visa sections considered a bonus;
    • ·       Candidates have to submit proof of (pre)settled status in the UK.
